Charlie Grice

Charlie Grice is a British middle distance athlete from Brighton. He is the current British Senior 1500m Champion. Charlie competes for Brighton Phoenix Athletics Club, which was founded by former Olympic Champion Steve Ovett.

Charlie was a promising footballer who played at county level however after trying to balance both sports and picking up a few injuries he decided to concentrate on athletics which turned out to be a good decision.

In 2010 Charlie burst onto the scene, breaking the English Schools 1500m Championship Record, and winning a bronze medal at the inaugural World Youth Olympics in Singapore. Since then Charlie has broken several of Ovett’s junior records on the track; the most impressive being his 3:57.9 mile time at the age of 18.

In 2014 Charlie won his first senior National title in the 1500m at the age of 20, being the youngest person ever to win this title. Fast forward to 2016, Charlie is 5x National 1500m Champion and at the age of 22 has already made every global final (European, Commonwealth, World & Olympic).

Charlie is a business and sport science graduate of St Mary’s University, Twickenham, where he still lives and trains.
